The Invisible Bear

I bought a really nice bird feeder from the Blue Ridge Ace Hardware. It was a bird feeder where you could put a ton of birdfood in. I hung it up and couldn't wait to watch the birds come to the feeder. Next morning I get my nice cup of coffee and go to sit out on our cabin rental porch. I could get a good view of the new bird feeder from there. I looked down, and NO Bird Feeder. I thought immediately someone probably took it. They were going to put it in their own yard.... Sure that had to be it. I go down to where the birdfeeder was hanging and you could see a part of it on the ground. The other part will all the food in it was no where to be seen. The bird feeder pole was totally bent to the ground. There wasn't a mess of food all over and everything looked pretty clean in the area. I talked with the local Blue Ridge Bird Seed Store owners, and they said that bears love eating birdfood and will literally take the whole bird feeder down, and drag the birdfood with them. So, that explains where the birdfood went. We never saw the bear, our cabin rental neighbors have not seen any bears around our area, and the birdfood thief never came back. We have more new bird feeders and haven't had this incident happen again. Visit our Cabin Rentals in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia

The Invisible Skunk

We let our dog out to do her business around 10pm. She sniffed all around, and we could smell what she was sniffing for. A SKUNK!!! Did we see it? Heck no... It was dark. Did we want to see it? Heck no... We hurried our pooch to be done with her #1 & #2 because we didn't want her to scare the skunk and then only to have her get sprayed. You know what this would've meant? We would have had to take a ride in our van to drive to the local grocery store to buy bottles and bottles of tomato juice. No, we weren't going to make Bloody Mary's, it would have been used to destroy the skunk scent on our dog. We would have to pick her up and plop her into the bathtub to take care of the matter. And after picking her up, we would have had to soak ourselves with tomato juice. Does tomato juice really work to get rid of the skunk spray scent? Well, I am glad we didn't have to find out using the method ourselves. By the way, we are in the North Georgia Mountains of Blue Ridge GA. Bloody Mary's do sound kind of good....
